Oman Hails Iran-US Temporary Ceasefire
Oman's Foreign Ministry issued a formal statement welcoming the truce, expressing particular appreciation for the mediation role played by Pakistan, alongside other parties who have worked to bring the grinding conflict to a halt.
The ministry stressed that the ceasefire must serve as a foundation — not a finish line — urging stakeholders to confront "the root causes of the crisis" and secure a permanent cessation of hostilities across the region.
The diplomatic development follows US President Donald Trump's announcement Tuesday that he had agreed "to suspend the bombing and attack of Iran for a period of two weeks."
The war traces back to Feb. 28, when Israel and the US launched a coordinated offensive against Iran, a campaign that has since killed more than 1,340 people — among them then-Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Iranian authorities have not issued an updated casualty toll in recent days.
Tehran has responded with waves of drone and missile strikes across the region, hitting Israel, Jordan, Iraq, and Gulf states hosting US military installations. The retaliatory campaign has inflicted casualties, damaged critical infrastructure, and sent shockwaves through global markets and international aviation routes.
